In the late spring and summer, when the days are longer and the weather is generally more stable, the Val di Rhêmes offers a variety of excursions ranging from pleasant and easy walks, to long and challenging outings in the high mountains.
Whether the outing is for a couple of hours or an entire day, everything is within easy reach. You can breathe the pure mountain air and visit extraordinary and unspoiled locations. It may sometimes be tiring, but that is soon forgotten amongst the spectacular mountain peaks.
Below is a list of day excursions that you can take on in the Val di Rhêmes, or in the neighbouring valleys of Valsavarenche or Valgrisenche, which can easily be reached by short car journeys. Alternatively they can be done directly on foot via circular routes that take more than one day.

ALTA VIA N. 2
Another interesting possibility is to walk along sections of the designated trekking path Alta Via No. 2. This is a high altitude footpath which winds its way between Courmayeur and Donnas, and is excellent for discovering alpine flora and fauna.
An interesting alternative for those who love climbing are the ‘via ferrata’ where even beginners can try their hand at climbing on the rock faces equipped with chains and ladders. In Val di Rhemes easy possibility is Ferrata di Casimiro.
Climbing equipment can be hired at the campsite.
